È finalmente uscito Wall of Eyes, secondo album dei The Smile, ultimo progetto di Thom Yorke. Per l’occasione esce anche un nuovo videoclip, sempre diretto da Paul Thomas Anderson come il precedente, per la title track. In questo caso, la band si esibisce con tutti i crismi davanti a un pubblico di bambini, con le macchine da presa intente a catturare la genuina reazione dei piccoli spettatori.
Una sorta di esperimento, che pare ispirarsi a una nota scena de Nel corso del tempo di Wim Wenders (in questi giorni al cinema trovate il suo nuovo film Perfect Days), in cui i due protagonisti improvvisano uno spettacolo di luci e ombre per degli scolari. Esperimento da cui scaturisce una domanda metafisica, basilare come lo è qui la messa in scena e l’uso delle luci, una domanda da bambini (“quando il bambino era bambino”, sempre Wenders), quindi fondamentale: che cos’è una performance musicale?
